Joint Custody - NC
North Carolina courts are required to consider joint custody if it is requested by one party. Joint custody can either refer to the court awarding both parents joint legal (decision-making authority), while giving one parent the actual physical custody of the minor child(ren) and the other parent visitation, or it can refer to each parent sharing actual physical custody of the minor child(ren). Also joint custody can be ordered when both parents want sole custody.
