Should I Use a Divorce Mediator? What are the Benefits of Using Divorce Mediation?

A divorce mediator is a neutral third party used to help facilitate the process of problem solving between the two opposing parties. The parties should be aware that the mediator cannot give them legal advice they are only there to help facilitate the resolution process and draft legally binding agreements that the parties themselves decide. If a party feels more comfortable with their attorney present during mediation then they may also attend the session. Some of the benefits to using divorce mediation are that it is often less costly then litigation, less formal then going to trial, and the parties can tailor an agreement to suit their needs, rather then a judge trying to come up with an agreement for them.
